Chairman, Treasure Valley Development Authority, Sho-Pai of Duck Valley
J R is Quapaw and Seneca/Cayuga. He was elected chairman of the Quapaw Business Committee in 1990 and served two years; was elected vice-chairman in 2005 and served five years. He was treasurer of NIGA for two terms. J R is well known in the Native Gaming World with a history of leadership. Conceiving, developing and directing, J R was a driving force in the tremendously successful Downstream Casino Resort. He has been married for 32 years to Beth Mathews, who is also his writing and business partner with Red Feather Productions. They are currently working on a reality TV series called “Casino Wars” and putting together a feature film that they have written called “Fancy Dancer.” J R is currently the chairman of the Treasure Valley Development Authority for the Sho-Pai of Duck Valley. They have three wonderful children; Sean, Table Games Manager for Downstream Casino Resort; Thomas, Assistant General Manager for Quapaw Casino; and Seneca, who recently passed away and was a Table Games Dealer at Downstream.
